What is Blast Ball?
Blast Ball is a beginner-level baseball/softball program aimed at introducing young children (typically ages 3–4) to the fundamentals of the game in a fun, fast-paced format. Children must turn age 3 by May 1st, 2026. Exceptions Apply.
Key Objectives
- Teach the five fundamental skills: hitting, throwing, catching, running, and fielding.
- Emphasize fun, enthusiasm, and continuous action to match young children’s attention spans.
- De-emphasize competition: no official scoring, no strict ‘outs’, and no umpires.
Who Can Play?
- Ideal for 3–4-year-olds.
- Excellent entry-level experience before progressing to T-ball or coach-pitch.
⚙️ Equipment & Field Setup
- Soft foam bats and balls, and a tee for hitting.
- A “Blast Base” that honks when stepped on—adds excitement!.
- Field configuration typically includes home plate, tee, and one honking base ~30–50 ft away.
- Players usually receive a team t-shirt and hat; gloves and helmets are optional/recommended.
How the Game Works
- Each batter hits a tee ball and runs to the Blast Base.
- If they reach and step on the base before a defensive player fields the ball and yells “BLAST!”, they score a run.
- If the defense yells “BLAST!” first, the play ends—but games don’t keep official outs or scores.
- Every player bats in each inning; teams may reverse batting order between innings.
- Games typically last around 45 minutes or until each player has batted once.
Parent Involvement
- Parents are encouraged to be on the field helping with drills and guiding young players.
- Supports a shared experience and helps maintain organized, positive game flow.
✅ Benefits for Young Athletes
- Develops hand-eye coordination in a natural, stress-free environment.
- Promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-confidence.
- Designed with safety in mind: soft equipment and no aggressive pitching reduce fear or injury.
- Keeps players engaged through constant activity and tactile fun (e.g., honking base).
